What should we do when under intruder attack?

Waking up to the sound of an intruder amidst the night when you are in a profound rest is an exceedingly bad dream one can get. Well, the situation is an unnerving one, if you wind up in this condition someday in the not so distant future. As disaster and mishappenings never thump and come, there are a few things that you can do and be set up in advance to this situation.

1. Try to hide: An intruder can have a close eye on you, so try to hide yourself first. It's better to find a safe place and escape yourself first rather than finding the intruder.

2. Use code word and warn your family members: So now that you have found a safe place to hide yourself from the intruder, it’s time to warn your family members. Use a short and simple code that will clearly give them the idea of the prevailing situation.

Tip- You can use codes like - Escape, Run, Intruder, Attack and more of such words, depending on the situation and how your family catches up the code.

3. Call 911: If possible, try to manage and reach by phone and call 911 and tell the happenings. They will come for an immediate help, until then, try to keep yourself protected and to a safe place. Remember, while talking to 911; tell each and every single detail to them. Like how many people are there, where you saw them or at present where they are, your complete address and where you are hiding in your house and how many members are there in your house.

Tip- If you are away from phones and it’s just not possible to get to it. Shout loudly that you have called 911 and they are coming. This will alarm the intruder and make him run away. But you have to do this smartly as this depends on the situation prevailing there and chances are that you have to give up your hidden place also.

4. Get out of the House: As the intruder will be searching for you, so it’s just not safe to remain at a single place (especially if it’s not a room that can be locked from inside). Be active and look for a chance to get out of the house. Once you are out of your house, you are almost safe and secure from the intruder.
